COVID-19 INFORMATION AND UPDATES

If you are having difficulty getting through to either your family doctor/nurse practitioner and/or the health unit, note that primary care facilities and the health units are working extremely hard to manage the volume of calls coming in.

In the meantime, please try this COVID-19 self-assessment tool:

As a Family Health Team, we have been monitoring the ever changing situation with COVID-19 (Corona Virus) since January with ongoing updates to our policies and procedures and the development of ministry standardized ways to screen, triage, assess and treat our patients. Patient and staff safety, and providing quality patient care have always been, and continue to be, our primary focus.

The rapidly changing screening recommendations, guidelines and the potential implications to staff and patients have led us to make some changes to the way we provide care. These changes are based on guidance from Ontario Public Health, Renfrew County Public Health, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and the Ontario Medical Association.   It is being recommended that we reduce in-person visits, screen patients prior to their visit and manage patients by phone or video when possible. Some changes made as of March 16, 2020 include:

  • Screening all patients at our Pembroke St. entrance (only entrance at this time)

  • Calling patients to discuss their appointments with the intention to reduce in-person visits by rescheduling all non-urgent appointments (we will notify you if there are any changes to your appointment - please do not call us to inquire)

  • Maintaining our After Hours Clinic through phone appointments and in-person visits based on a physician’s assessment, and;

  • Cancelling all group programs

We may have to make further changes and will consistently provide updates to our patients via our website and facebook page.

These are difficult times as our physicians and other clinicians work to ensure the hospital has adequate physician coverage while also managing the primary care needs of our patients.  We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support as we move ahead in the coming days and weeks.

Below we have linked some helpful resources and FAQs.  If you have questions about the COVID-19 (Corona Virus) and testing criteria you should go to Renfrew County District Health Unit’s web page at:  https://www.rcdhu.com/novel-coronavirus-covid-19-2/
