The Wisdom of Mark Twain

I love this quote by Mark Twain:

"I have lived a long life and have had many troubles, most of which never happened."  - Mark Twain

We will always have something to worry about, mainly because we don't have the ability to see our future. Mark Twain's words remind us that living in the moment and focusing on today's worries produces a lot less heartache. That is sometimes easier said than done, however we can't deny ourselves the wisdom of that intention. The reality is, even when troubles arise in our lives, we have the ability and the fortitude to deal with them. Many times in fact, we may even acknowledge to ourselves that it wasn't as bad as we thought it was going to be. Perhaps we can lean into our formula for worry a bit more by asking ourselves

"Is there something I can do about this worry right now?"

If there is, do it, and if there isn't, perhaps it is time to set the worry aside; leaving some room for the joys and the successes of the day :) Photo credit: http://Photo by Ben White on Unsplash Like this post? Consider subscribing!
