Staying Stuck

There are times when we experience great suffering; it can be in grief, it can come from having gone through a traumatic event. As with all emotions, we must go through the process; we can't go around it, we must go through it. The ebb and flow of emotions must be felt; the joys combined with the sorrows, the release of tears. The goal becomes to heal, for post-traumatic growth, for resilience. Unfortunately, sometimes we stay stuck in our suffering. There is always an excuse for not trying one thing or another, the release felt from emotional dumping is only temporary, and wounds become treasured. It may come as a result of cumulative trauma, negative core beliefs, learned behaviour from childhood. If we stay stuck in our suffering, we run the risk of not experiencing the growth that comes from loss. If we recognize that perhaps we have been burdened with our suffering, we can move towards healing. Structural change always requires action. Getting professional help, creating a spiritual practice to help connect to your soul, challenging your core beliefs, are all ways that we can move towards getting un-stuck. We are much better served when we feel lighter, more grounded, free. Photo by Maria Cappelli on Unsplash
