A Good Reminder as to the Power of the Pause

I often talk about the power of the pause and how instrumental it can be to lead us into making a decision that is measured and mindful. When we slow down enough to take a deep breath, center ourselves to assess and process our emotions, and allow our logical mind to weigh in, we tend to feel more grounded and settled. We are in our Wise Mind when we can use both logic and emotion to inform and guide us. Recently, a client noted that she resonated with the grounded space of Wise Mind and described it as “feeling home.” Did I not, days later, see a meme that introduced the yoga term Pratyahara which means:

Not reacting immediately.

Letting the wave pass.

Come home before responding.

Come home before responding. What a lovely image as it instills in us a faith in our own intuition, to guide us to a more confident and secure position when faced with something unsettling or emotionally difficult. The power of the pause allows us to come home before responding. 😊
